The Rent Review Specialist

Social Responsibility

I have been a wholefood organic vegetarian for over forty years; my interests include counselling, photography, and local history.

I have multifarious talents and am blessed with a flow of good and commercially viable ideas, most of which I give away freely to anyone able to develop them. In 1980, I created Marketing Yourself, a blend of business and self-development philosophy on holistic principles. I own the company, Marketing Yourself Ltd, also marketingyourself.co.uk/.uk. In my spare time, through talks, booklets, and consultations, I provided marketing advice to self-employed therapists and practitioners in the alternative and complementary health-care market. As a by-product, I invented a method of counselling for resolving deep-seated psychological problems in an hour and a half. Described as a “joy to experience”, the idea helped hundreds of people and generated heaps of ridicule from the establishment.

In London, other spare-time ventures were Weekend Friends – a not-for-profit singles club that I co-organised for 3 years: reckoned to be one of the best in London, at peak WF had 120 members and catalysed several marriages and long-term relationships. And, for about 5 years, Healthy Living Limited trading as The Healthy Living Centre where my co-director and I hosted workshops presented by leading lights of the mind-body-spirit movement.

In Ledbury, I have served on the committees of Friends of Dymock Poets (Membership Secretary, 1993-1994) and Ledbury Badminton Club (Secretary 1994-2006, 2017-2019 ). In 1994, it was my suggestion to have a poetry festival in Ledbury – founded two years later, nowadays the Ledbury Poetry Festival is the largest poetry festival in the UK. In 1995, I chaired the Ledbury Carnival committee and introduced a blueprint that successive organisers of the Carnival have used since. From 2009 to 2011, I was Chairman and Director of Ledbury and District Society Trust Ltd, a registered charity and civic society with more than 440 members and owning two heritage buildings. I am the founder of Ledbury History Society, an on-line personal project. In 2012, I was invited to author “Ledbury through Time”, one of a national series of photographic local history books published by Amberley Publishing and available from all good bookshops, Amazon or direct from Amberley Publishing.

I am a Life Member of the National Trust and a Life Member of the Institute of Directors.

I contribute to professional wisdom and market intelligence for the commercial property market by writing about rent reviews, business tenancies, and retail property. For several years, a guest writer about commercial property on Landlordzone.
